Overview¶

Cyber Sprocket is changing how we license and package our products. In an effort to streamline, and thus accelerate, the development process we have come up with a new method for providing premium paid software for WordPress. We will no longer have a separate LE (light edition) and Plus version of our products. All products will be a single standard product.

Advantages¶

For LE Users¶

LE and Plus edition users will get upgrades and patches at the same time. LE users will no longer be on a delayed release program.

For Plus Users¶

Plus users will no longer need to download zip files, deactivate and uninstall a previous version, install the new version, and re-activate it. You can now upgrade inline directly from the WordPress directory, just like any other plugin listed in their directory.

Add On Packs¶

Many of our WordPress plugins are now shipping with one or more add-on packs. Add-on packs extend the functionality and features of your base plugin. Some add-on packs add a few simple features. Other add-on packs greatly extend the functionality of the product. Regardless of how many add-on packs there are or how big they are, the base product is always functional without any add-on packs.

Add-on packs give us the opportunity to sell extra features to our WordPress customers. This provides a source of income so we can continue to work on improving the plugins we offer. You can purchase the add-on packs from directly within the settings page of the plugin or via our website. As with all of our products, they come with a 30-day no-questions-asked money back guarantee.

As with all of our WordPress plugins, the add-on packs and the base product are always open-source and licensed under GPL.

Converting Your License¶

If you are have a licensed copy of a Plus Edition or Standard Edition (non-LE version) of any of our premium plugins you will automatically receive a license for the equivalent Plus Pack. After you download and install the latest version of the plugin from the WordPress extensions directory, enter the license key you received for the premium product in the Add-On Packages license field. Your product will be licensed and the new features installed automatically.

All of your settings and data will be retained from your prior Plus Edition or Standard Edition product.

Upgrades¶

In order to continue to provided improved products, Cyber Sprocket will begin charging a nominal fee for upgrades to any of the add-on packages installed on your system. You do NOT have to purchase the upgrade. Your plugin will let you know when a newer version of an add-on pack is available. Our support site will have documentation on what features are available in the latest upgrade. If the latest upgrade does not have features you wish to use you can always skip the upgrade. When a future upgrade becomes available you can always opt to upgrade at that time.

Only the add-on packages will have an upgrade fee and we intend to only be charging a fee for upgrades that add new functionality or improve up on existing functionality. Patches and bug fixes will continue to be provided at no additional charge.

Charging a nominal fee for upgrades helps offset the costs of deploying a patch release. It allows us to continue to support our plugins and offer timely patches as well as improved features.
