Frontend blank page

Added by Marcello Role about 1 year ago

Hello,
I'm in trouble.

I set my Moola for Amazon component with Amazon Access Key, Secret, local store, search index and associate id.
Then I created a menu link in which I have set the keywords.

In frontend appears a blank page.

The link of Moola Amazon Edition in my site is
http://www.roero-illuminazione.it/component/option,com_moolaamazonedition/lang,it/view,store/

In the right position at the bottom there is the "mod_moola_ae_related" which displays correctly some products.

I think I have set all correctly, can anyone tell me what I did wrong or why it doesn't work?

There is the possibility to have even Amazon Italy in the next release?

Regards and thanks!

Well, the good news is that your settings for the component are working properly and this is why you're getting products to show up with the "Related Products" plugin. It's hard to know exactly what the issue is with the other products not showing up on the page but it could be as simple as Amazon not returning any results for that page. This could simply be due to the keywords and other settings for that page. If you can, paste the settings you're using for the component here and I can replicate them on one of our test platforms and see if I can reproduce the same results.

Have you need also access key and secret?

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Chris Rasys about 1 year ago

It's a good idea to test with as much of the same info as possible, so yes.

well, one thing I can tell you without any testing is that you have too many keywords. When you send keywords to amazon for a search it treats them as ANDs, which means that it will only return results if they include all of the keywords. Unfortunately, there is no way to make amazon treat the keywords like ORs (find things that contain any of the keywords). This is a limitation of the current Amazon API so there's no way around it at the moment. Hopefully they will change this in the future though.

This is the actual documentation from Amazon:

A word or phrase associated with an item. The word or phrase can be in various product fields, including product title, author, artist, description, manufacturer, and so forth. When, for example, the search index equals "MusicTracks," the Keywords parameter enables you to search by song title.

The term 'keywords' is kind of a misnomer as it's not even designed to support multiple search terms at all.

Hello,
I have tested with only one key but the problem is the same.
Is it possible to go to the homepage without keywords?

Hi Marcello,

It turns out we have the exact same issue [[http://www.ecoevaluator.com/testing-products.html]]. I also have the two gray bars and no products. I have tried many combinations of keywords to get this working. A few examples are using one keyword with no comma no spaces; using multiple keywords with commas but no spaces, then with spaces and no commas; then with %20 between them. None of that had any effect.

We obviously have the same conflict. I installed a new slide show module recently and as it turned out my super-fish menus were conflicting. The developer of the extension was very quick in providing a solution and created an update to compensate for the issue. You might want to try turning off various plugins and see if that helps at all. Its just a thought and I am off to try it right now.

Good luck

Todd

Thank you very much.
As the component doesn't work correctly I can get a refund?
Best regards!

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Chris Rasys about 1 year ago

You're certainly welcome to a refund if you'd like, but I would still like to try and determine what the problem is on your server and have not yet had the opportunity to do that (busy week). I'd like to do that at some point this weekend, so let me know if you don't want me to, or if you're removing the compontent/etc.

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Todd W about 1 year ago

Marcello, hang in there for a few more days, your refund is good for 30 days. I am hoping he can solve both of our problems at the same time. But if you bail I understand you can only put so much time into one thing.

Chris, do you think other extensions (see comment above) could be causing the issue or is it an issue with the API?

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Marcello Role about 1 year ago

I remain patient in waiting for your reply.
Thanks of all!

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Chris Rasys about 1 year ago

I just tested your amazon keys on my local development copy and everything worked properly. This means that there is something else going on either with your server or with your installation of Joomla.

One issue that can cause problems is if the system clock on your server is out of sync. Amazon requires that all requests be time stamped and automatically rejects any that are too old. So if the server's internal clock is out of sync it will stamp the request with an old timestamp and Amazon will block it thinking that it's out of date.

Without access to your server I cannot do any further testing. If you would like, I can go onto your server to do actual debugging, but this would require you to give me access. Please let me know what you decide.

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Marcello Role about 1 year ago

Hello, thanks!

My site is on a shared server, I can give you only backend access of joomla.

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Todd W about 1 year ago

I am hopeful that you two were able to solve this issue. I seem to have the same one so please let me know when you figure it out. Thanks

Todd

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Todd W about 1 year ago

Have you made any progress? I am beginning to lose hope.

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Marcello Role about 1 year ago

I have not good news.
My Moola for Amazon not works.
I believe that the component has still need to mature.

RE: Frontend blank page - Added by Marcello Role about 1 year ago

Can I have please a refund?

Moola for Amazon not works correctly in my site and I have to delete this extension in my site.

What you need to cancel the order and refund policy?

I will buy again this component after that it will be further developed.

Kindest Regards!
