Version 2.1 Released
Added by Lance Cleveland 8 months ago
MoneyPress eBay Edition v2.1 has been released.
There have been some minor bug fixes in this release, however the biggest change is merging the LE and standard edition into a single package. This introduces the "Plus Pack". Users that have a paid license have already been converted/upgraded from the paid license to a "Plus Pack" license.
New Plus Pack Features¶
Some of the new Plus Pack features include:
- CSS Themes for listings.
- More filters for products, such as setting a min and max price.
- Listing products from different countries.
General Updates¶
In addition to the plus pack we've also cleaned up the main product line. We have also updated the online documentation with more details and examples, especially on using shortcodes. You'll find a number of new shortcode attributes available in the Plus Pack.
See the documentation for more details.
New Direction : Single Product Line¶
This release departs from the "Light Edition (LE) / Standard Edition" product lines that we had been working on with most of our WordPress products. Starting in the fall of 2011 we decided to take a different approach. We are going back to a single product line with all of our WordPress products. All products will be fully functional "out of the box", no longer limited to a admin-only trial mode. All products will also have the latest bug fixes and patches.
To help monetize the plugins we are not longer selling a separate standard edition from our website. Instead we are offering premium add-ons for the base plugin, such as the Plus Pack for this MoneyPress : eBay Edition release. Users can opt to purchase the add-on pack(s) based on their needs. When the add-on pack is purchased they will be emailed a license key which, when entered into their settings page, will install the additional features provided by the Plus Pack.
We feel this is a win-win for everyone.
Advantages Of A Single Release¶
For Us¶
We need to spend less effort of managing and maintaining two code bases, two release cycles, and two product listings. This eliminates significant overhead, allowing us to spend more time on coding new features.
For LE Users¶
Users of the base plugin, formerly known as the "LE" version, will get the latest patches and releases on a regular basis. It also means they will not need to deactivate the product if/when they want to add the plus features.
For Plus Users¶
A single release that utilizes the WordPress distribution and directory listing system means that plus users can now get routine upgrade notices. They no longer need to deactivate, uninstall, install the latest version, and re-activate every time a new release is out.
